Radio Scooby 570

October 22nd, 2011

This is the home of the best new station broadcasting from International Waters in the North Sea.

Radio Scooby is broadcasting on 570 kHz AM from a 50 KW transmitter beamed towards the UK and Southern Europe. These transmitions are not regulated by European Law and are by this considerd as Illegal or “Pirate” in nature.

The station play a wide variety of pre 21st Century music – mainly focusing on the best of the 80s – though features and at selected times through out the day / night we will play anyhting from the 50s, 60s, 70s or 90s. This includes during the summer months our popular Surf Top 20 feature.

We are open to suggestions on how we can improve our programming and welcome your feedback – studio@radioscooby.com

We are often asked about the net and why we don’t broadcast on the web. The answer to this is to do with our current setup – we use satelite and 3G technology for our connection to the digital world – but due to weather, location (North Sea) we cannot guarantee a regular feed and transmitions could be intermittent. The other reason is cost as we would have to trnasmit from a land location and subject to PRS / PPL / MPCS royalty fees. It maybe something we will consider for the future – but for now we are on AM from an unlicensed transmitter.

In addition to our regular broadcasts, the popular Pirate Radio Show with Bill Sharkey hijacks the airwaves of various stations around the world each week, playing shanteys from the twentieth century and sharing experiences of life as a Pirate Radio DJ.
